New Video of Andro/Lang Stayed Away

This tune set has been going down quite well this tour, so we thought we’d make a video for you all. Andro is a traditional french dance and we found it on the internet somewhere, the second tune Lang Stayed Away is a northumbrian hornpipe and we first heard it played by Nancy Kerr & James Fagan.Hope you like it!

We’re going to be on ITV!

A few weeks back we had the pleasure of performing a few songs for the amazingly talented Adrian Edmondson. He’s got a show on ITV called ‘Ade in Britain’ and is currently filming the 2nd series. Ade moves around county to county in a caravan investigating local foods, recipes and cultures. When he came to Essex, he asked us to perform some local music for him near sounthend pier! Here’s a pic of all of us together! It was very cold!

For one night only! Mawkin with Eliza Carthy & Jim Causley

On the 21st of April, we’ll be putting together a special show with special guests live in concert at The Weston Auditorium in Hatfield.

In this special event we’ll collaborate with mercury prize nominee Eliza Carthy and devonshire folk singer Jim Causley. Supporting are Hannah James & Sam Sweeney – one of the finest young duos around – this promises to be an exciting evening of music and song.

We’re all really excited to be performing our new collaborations with Eliza and Jim at The Weston. It’s a brand new venue with a gorgeous acoustic and will make a beautiful setting for what looks to be a great night of music. There’ll be a few surprises for the audience too, and of course were delighted that Sam Sweeney and Hannah James can join us as support- we’ve got a huge amount of respect for what they do. Overall it should be an amazing night of folk music from some of the best musicians in the country.

Tickets from £8 can be booked by calling 01707 281127 or visiting http://www.ticketline.co.uk/mawkin.

Dave’s got a blog, check it out!

Our very own Dave Delarre has picked up his digital quill and will be writing a lot of nonsense over on the UK Folk Music website -

http://www.ukfolkmusic.co.uk/blog

Expect ramblings, musings, poetry, novellas, philosophical musings or maybe just the occasional rant about the price of guitar strings. Who knows!?

Be sure to leave him a comment though so he thinks at least one person has read it.
