All Things Mawkin!

After a summer of driving around England in Danny’s Fiesta, I was intrigued to know more about what Alex’s book is about, he spent every single moment reading it, in the car, in the tent, the pub and in the tent. So after finishing the book he told me to read it and so lent me two books. The first is about a bloke travelling around the world trying to find other people with his namesake and the other about a bloke travelling the world to find people who would join a collective that does RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness) on Fridays.

Anyway, Alex and me were drunk at his flat/cupboard when we thought it would be funny if we could find other groups of people called Mawkin. This is where we should have left it, as a drunken thought, however as I have far too much time on my hands it turned into something quite different.

So far I have found:

9x Mr/Mrs Mawkin
1x One-Man Band
1x Magazine
1x Cat
1x Cartoon Character
1x Lane
Several Shakespearean references
And a bloke called Tim Lenton.

Information About the Mawkins

The Mawkin People
So far I have found 9, however only 2 have responded to the emails I sent out, which either means that 7 of them are dead or sane.
Amit Mawkin- is a computer programmer type person
Nikhil Mawkin- is from Delhi, and founded his one-man band called ‘Mawkin’.
Rajat Mawkin- used to have his photo here but asked for it to be removed.

The Mawkin Magazine
The Merry Mawkin is a publication in Norfolk, which promotes and keeps the Norfolk dialect alive and well, they do a terrific job.

The Mawkin CatThe Cat known as 'Mawkin'
There is a cat called Mawkin, still no reply from the email I sent it.

The Mawkin Cartoon
A strange website about strange cartoon characters. Mawkin is half goat and half dragon. Perhaps it knows the cat.

The Mawkin Lane
A recent discovery this one, somewhere in Derbyshire, there is a place called Ashfield, and somewhere on the outskirts of Ashfield there is Mawkin Lane. Apparently it’s got great Biodiversity. I looked for it on the map but to no avail. The Band are planning an expedition up there to locate it and to nick the sign.

The Shakespearean References
Shakes uses Mawkin in his ‘Pericles’, something about ‘Malikin of Mawkin’ a Witch that could transform to a cat. Sounds a bit weird to me.

Tim Lenton
I emailed Tim by mistake when trying to contact ‘The Merry Mawkin’, Tim lives somewhere in Norfolk, does poetry and plays guitar for Church with his wife, he likes Celtic Music and promises that when we have a gig in Norfolk he’ll come and see us.

If you are called Mawkin, or you know something that is please email me as its a great distraction reading an email from something Mawkin.
